Start planning your post-pandemic travels with some amazingly cheap and beautiful places! Here's a list of the top 10 places to travel in 2021 and why.

Top 10 Cheap Travel Destinations for 2021:


1. Thailand

Thailand is a beautiful country and remains one of the cheapest holiday destinations in the world. While there are some upscale resorts, they are still a very good value for a luxury vacation. You should also know that the price lowers as you go more inland. If you go to the Chiang Mai region you will be in budget travel heaven! Here you can find a backpacker's dorm for $5/night, to a nice hotel with a pool for $30/night, to a luxury 5-star hotel for as little as $60/night!

Food: $5-$15/day

Accommodation: $5-$60/night

Transportation: $6-$10/day

Backpacker's Budget: $20/day

Mid-range Budget: $50/day


2. Nepal

Nepal isn't only one of the world's cheapest places for mountain trekking. There are also many budget friendly accommodations, restaurants, and transportation. And although trekking Mt. Everest can cost you thousands of dollars, there are many other mountains that you can trek with a guide or by yourself for as low as $15/day!

Food: $5-$10/day with some hostels providing breakfast

Accommodation: $5-$50/night

Transportation: $10-$15/day for a private car

3. Indonesia

When you think of Indonesia you might think of Bali and luxury resorts. The thing about this country is it can be either really cheap or a bit pricey. Throughout the country food and drinks are pretty cheap and very delicious! Riding a scooter through the mountains, hiking, chasing waterfalls, and slouching in a hammock by the beach all day long cost very little. And outside of Bali, you can even find 5-star accommodations for as little as $40/night.

Food: $5-$15/day with some hostels providing breakfast

Accommodation: $5-$40/night

Transportation: $8-$15/day for a motorbike

4. The Philippines

If you travel to the Philippines the best and cheapest times to go are the shoulder seasons (May and November). I'd recommend places such as: Bohol, Siquijor islands, and Cebu, where you can get a 5-star accommodation for as low as $63/night!

Food: $5-$15/day with some hostels providing breakfast

Accommodation: $7-$70/night

Transportation: $10-$15/day for a motorbike OR $15-$20 for a boat ride from one island to another

5. Croatia

Do you like turquoise waters, quaint towns, cheap prices, and stunning nature? Then Croatia might be your next travel destination! There are even thousands of islands surrounding its mainland that have accommodations, food, and transportation with a low price tag also. To make your trip cheap, travel in the shoulder seasons (May and September).

Food: $10-$15/day with some hostels providing breakfast

Accommodation: $12-$70/night

Transportation: $12-$15/day for a rental car split between people, $10-$15 for a ferry ticket

6. Cuba

A truly unique experience is a trip to Cuba. It feels like you went back in time with vintage cars driving through the old, colorful streets. Although Cuba was getting expensive at one point, these days you can book a nice vacation for a very decent bargain.

Food: $6-$15/day with some hostels providing breakfast

Accommodation: $20-$100/night

Transportation: $1-$5/train ticket


Backpacker's Budget: $40/day

Mid-range Budget: $65/day



7. Morocco

For backpacker's you're in luck, Morocco has a growing network of hostels. If you have a bit more budget, consider staying in some of the iconic riad hotels. Riads are a type of traditional Moroccan and Andalusi interior garden or courtyard associated with architecture.

Food: $10-$15/day with some hostels providing breakfast

Accommodation: $7-$80/night

Transportation: $5-$15/bus ticket

8. Vietnam

Vietnam is among one of the cheapest and most beautiful Asian countries to travel to. If you eat local you can easily spend less than a few dollars per meal, with locally brewed beers costing as little as $0.20 a glass. When it comes to accommodations, you can get a clean and comfortable place to stay for as little as $10!

Food: $5-$10/day with some hostels providing breakfast

Accommodation: $5-$60/night

Transportation: $5-$30/bus ticket

4. Mia Resort Nha Trang


Backpacker's Budget: $25/day

9. Laos

Many of the amazing activities in Laos are very cheap. It's $2.50 to see one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, $7 for a full day tubing experience along the Vang Vieng river, and $6 for a relaxing massage. There are also a variety of hostels being build to cater to the increasing number of backpackers. However, if you have a bit more of a budget, you can get a gorgeous room for around $35 that would easily cost $100 in the US.

Accommodation: $5-$80/night

Transportation: $6-$10/day for a motorbike, >$25/bus ticket

10. Cambodia

Although breathtakingly beautiful, there's more to Cambodia then Angkor Wat. And thankfully you can explore it's beauty while on a budget! The only thing that is a bit more pricey is the 3-day pass to Angkor Wat which is around $62 right now, besides that you can get accommodation, drinks, and food for very cheap.

Food: $5-$10/day with some hostels providing breakfast

Accommodation: $3-$60/night

Transportation: $6-$15/day for a motorbike or a bus ticket
